英语国家概况()期末复习提要

 

一、教学目的与基本要求

本课程的教学目的,在为学生提供美国、加拿大两个主要英语国家的社会与文化知识,使之了解和熟悉这些国家的地理、历史、政治、经济、社会、文化和生活等方面的基本情况和制度,同时提高应用英语的能力。

知识要求:要求学生在学习完本课程后,对美国、加拿大的地理、历史、政治、经济、社会、文化和生活等方面的基本情况和制度,有较好的了解,并能在工作中加以运用。

语言学习:学生应结合有关这两个英语国家地理、历史、政治、经济、社会、文化和生活等方面的基本情况和制度,学会与之相关的英语语汇和表达方式。

能力要求:通过课文的阅读,1)提高学生对社会与文化类英语读物的阅读能力。2)提高学生听懂有关英语国家社会与文化情况的英语讲座、报告和广播的能力。3)培养学生用英语进行相关的交谈、讨论、辩论和评论的能力,能作5分钟的连贯性讲话。4)培养学生以获取信息和表达思想为目的的阅读技巧。

 

二、考核方式

本课程的考核采取两种形式:形成性考核和课程终结考试。课程总成绩为百分制,形成性考核占20%,课程终结考试占80%

1.  形成性考核:包括平时作业、参与面授辅导和各项教学活动的情况。

2.  课程终结考试:满分100分,由四川电大统一命题,在同一时间实行全省统一考试。

 

三、命题依据

本课程终结考试的依据是广播电视大学英语专业教学计划、“英语国家概况”课程教学大纲以及《英语国家社会与文化入门下册》教材。

 

四、考试题型

期末考试为比试,时间120分钟,总分100分,共四大题。题型如下:

一、      单项选择题: 20分,20小题。考察学生对课文内容细节的理解。考试重点是教材中每课相关练习。

二、      填空题:   30分, 15个小题。每空填一词。 考察学生对课文重要知识点的识记。考试重点是教材中每课相关练习。

三、      简答题:

10个小题,20分。要求学生只回答要点,不作具体阐述。考察学生对课文中文化背景知识的综合理解。考试重点是每一课的综合性知识点。

四、      名词解释

30分,八道小题,学生选作其中的六道。要求学生用英语解释。考察的重点是每课中出现的重点名词。
